2025 Spring Meeting @Sanquin, Amsterdam
On 26 May 2025, we had a fantastic time at the NVMS Spring Meeting, hosted by Sanquin Research in Amsterdam. The day was filled with cutting-edge mass spectrometry talks, lively discussions, and the latest updates from the Dutch MS community.

The meeting kicked off with a talk by Maartje van den Biggelaar (Sanquin), who shared insights into proteomic blueprints. This was followed by impressive presentations from young researchers, including: Rimsha Saif (Maastricht University) on serum proteomics for early osteoarthritis biomarkers, Drosos Katsavellis (University of Groningen) on deep serum profiling via LC-MS/MS, Kryzstof Jasieński (TNO) on non-target screening of particulate matter.

In the afternoon, we continued with: Shelley Jager (Utrecht University) on plasma glycoproteomics using the ZenoTOF. Amalia Kontochristou (VU) on clusterin in Alzheimer’s disease, Annabel Torrente-Lopez (LUMC) on the mass spectrometric characterisation of bacterial glycoconjugate vaccines and Kevin Hes (VU) on IR action spectroscopy MS. Finally, also 2 conference fund winners were invited to present their work: Kevin Hooijschuur (UU) on IM-MS for diagnostic glycan fingerprints, and Laura Finazzi (RU) on molecular structure analysis via IR ion spectroscopy and DFT.

The youngNVMS again selected among the many interesting posters, a poster prize, which was awarded to Alienke van Pijkeren (Bioanalytics GSM Group) for her exciting work on (finally) making single-cell proteomics reliable!

At the General Assembly, we reviewed financials, activities, and welcomed the new conference fund winners. Most importantly, we unanimously re-elected Anouk Rijs for a second term as NVMS President—thank you, Anouk, for your continued dedication and work for the Dutch mass spec society!

A big thank you to all speakers, attendees, and sponsors for making the day such a success.
